Evolution

The only constant of life is ..change. How many times have you come across a situation when you felt that despite giving your best to tackle the situation successfully, somewhere you lacked? or things are not happening the way you wanted despite you giving the best of your efforts? Quite many times... Isn't it? So what did you do in these situations? I have come across people who said that they changed their ways and heeded on to a path where they would have to face less of such problems. But a few said - they introspected..... So, here we shall talk about the second kind of people - the ones who introspected.  If we go by a dictionary definition, Introspection means  the examination of one's own thoughts and feelings or rather a self - examination of things.  The words seem easy but actually are difficult to understand in practicality. To keep it simple: Every day when you stand in front of a mirror, what do you see? You would say what kind of...

A life Lesson

Image
Very recently I read this story on social media which teaches us a very important lesson of life. The story is of the magnificent bird - The Bald Eagle.   The Bald Eagle has the longest life span of its species. It can live up-to 70 years. But to reach this age, the eagle must make a very difficult decision!  In its 40th year, the eagle's long and flexible talons can no longer grab a prey which serves as food. Its long and sharp beak becomes bent. Its old-aged and heavy wings, due to their thick feathers, stick to its chest and make it difficult to fly.  Then, the eagle is left with only two options: DIE or go through a painful process of CHANGE!  This process lasts for 150 days (5 months) The process requires the eagle to fly to a mountain top and sit on its nest. There the eagle knocks its beak against a rock until it plucks it out.  Then the eagle will wait for the new beak to grow back after which it will pluck out its talons. When it...

On this friendship day....

Image
Aristotle once said, "The best friend is the man who in wishing me well wishes it for my sake". Quite relevant in today's times where it is difficult to know who is an impostor - being a good friend to you and then leaving you alone to walk alone on your path... which seems easy but is difficult as the solitude and loneliness of that path makes it difficult to move further on it. Probably that is why Hellen Keller said, " Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light". A friend to support you in the worst of your times can help you overcome those times with a such an ease that you won't even realise when those clouds left your life and its sunshine again . . .. and best friends are those lights which turn on automatically as soon as they sense such a time around you to pull you out of them as soon as possible Friends are those who integrate the differentiated parts of life by bringing with them such great memo...

Food for thought - 06 : My Perspective to it

Image
At the end of the day it is not what others think about us matters, but rather what made them think so! Food For thought - 06, is something which needs a perspective added to it for a better understanding. In very simple terms it means that we shall listen to all what people say about us and then think what made them think about us that way! We are, right from our childhood, taught that Kuch toh log kahenge, logo ka kaam hai kehna , So ignore. But it is not always true because at times we act in such a way which we feel is right but it doesn't get presented that way and hence misinterpreted. Also the other side to it is that, people think very high of us, but we don’t realize the reason why. It may be something ingrained within our values which others admire and respect. Upon a self introspection we realize what actions of ours made people think about us that way. I personally believe that if you want to grow and succeed in life take little time out every day for ...

Selfish: To sell your own fish for your benefit!?

Image
The title seems quite confusing but puts up quite an evident question – is doing something for ourselves and our own life which others can’t match up to, called being selfish? Selfish is a bad word in most people’s books. As a society, we applaud selflessness, honor, sacrifice and service. Being called selfish is hurting, but this particular trait can help you become a better person.  It is critical to be selfish and self – centered when you are considering the future of YOUR life! And that is because you are responsible for your own happiness.  Most people give up their heart’s desire to do something by getting influenced from other people. It is a strange aspect of human psychology that we try to please everyone and not hurt their feelings… but is it worth it? Is giving up your desires and dreams for others (who don’t have much of role to play in your life), fair? Consider a situation to understand the point above: your best friend comes over to you and asks ...

Understanding the Misunderstanding

Image
It is said that a few wise words can bring a great change in your life far more than what thousands of words can, so can this quote. The Quote here in the picture is something that we all must have dealt with at some point or the other.  A misunderstanding can create such unforgivable situations around those going through it that all their emotions of love, respect, bonding becomes a thing of the past and what takes its place are the emotions of hatred, jealousy and detachment. Often the two main causes of a misunderstanding are: Lack of Communication and a Third person. But the latter plays a major role using the former. People out of jealousy plant incomplete information which is often manipulated to create strife between people. This strife, which ‘they’ feel is their victory is actually the defeat of their morals and values which put them down to such a level that they can’t rise above these disgusting ways of manipulating things. The repercussions of a misunderstan...

A ' Classic' Case of Irony

Image
Irony as described by Merriam – Webster Dictionary is the use of words that mean the opposite of what you really think especially in order to be funny or a situation that is strange or funny because things happen in a way that seems to be the opposite of what you expected. Irony is part and parcel of our everyday lives and so is an inevitable part of Jane Austen’s Novels. Austen’s most famous novel – Pride and Prejudice is steeped in Irony of theme, situation, character and verbal. ‘Pride and Prejudice’ is considered to be the finest novel of Jane Austen, and is the work of art in the history of English Fiction. It has an incomparable freshness and sharpness of outline. In this novel we have an exhibition of Pride by Darcy and Prejudice by Elizabeth and their ultimate union at the end. There is a comedy of manners presented in a spirit of amusement devoid of bitterness and the characters portrayed by Austen form an integral part of this novel and if seen independently would no...
