Selfish: To sell your own fish for your benefit!?

Image
The title seems quite confusing but puts up quite an evident question – is doing something for ourselves and our own life which others can’t match up to, called being selfish? Selfish is a bad word in most people’s books. As a society, we applaud selflessness, honor, sacrifice and service. Being called selfish is hurting, but this particular trait can help you become a better person.  It is critical to be selfish and self – centered when you are considering the future of YOUR life! And that is because you are responsible for your own happiness.  Most people give up their heart’s desire to do something by getting influenced from other people. It is a strange aspect of human psychology that we try to please everyone and not hurt their feelings… but is it worth it? Is giving up your desires and dreams for others (who don’t have much of role to play in your life), fair? Consider a situation to understand the point above: your best friend comes over to you and asks whether h

Understanding the Misunderstanding

Image
It is said that a few wise words can bring a great change in your life far more than what thousands of words can, so can this quote. The Quote here in the picture is something that we all must have dealt with at some point or the other.  A misunderstanding can create such unforgivable situations around those going through it that all their emotions of love, respect, bonding becomes a thing of the past and what takes its place are the emotions of hatred, jealousy and detachment. Often the two main causes of a misunderstanding are: Lack of Communication and a Third person. But the latter plays a major role using the former. People out of jealousy plant incomplete information which is often manipulated to create strife between people. This strife, which ‘they’ feel is their victory is actually the defeat of their morals and values which put them down to such a level that they can’t rise above these disgusting ways of manipulating things. The repercussions of a misunderstanding

A ' Classic' Case of Irony

Image
Irony as described by Merriam – Webster Dictionary is the use of words that mean the opposite of what you really think especially in order to be funny or a situation that is strange or funny because things happen in a way that seems to be the opposite of what you expected. Irony is part and parcel of our everyday lives and so is an inevitable part of Jane Austen’s Novels. Austen’s most famous novel – Pride and Prejudice is steeped in Irony of theme, situation, character and verbal. ‘Pride and Prejudice’ is considered to be the finest novel of Jane Austen, and is the work of art in the history of English Fiction. It has an incomparable freshness and sharpness of outline. In this novel we have an exhibition of Pride by Darcy and Prejudice by Elizabeth and their ultimate union at the end. There is a comedy of manners presented in a spirit of amusement devoid of bitterness and the characters portrayed by Austen form an integral part of this novel and if seen independently would no

Choice?

Image
“ Your wisdom decides how beautiful your life will be” We can never predict what life holds for us. We only can make wise choices with our wisdom to do our best and mold our life as per our desire. CHOICE? Is it really what makes or ruins our life? Is it really the root cause of whatever happens in our life? or is it just one of the factors that affects our life? What I believe is that choices hold a very important role in everyone’s life. Everything that happens to us and to our life is because of a choice. For Example,  You've  got an exam tomorrow morning about which you were informed today, so instead of studying for it you choose to go out for a movie. Next day you flunk in your exam. This is a very simple example of choice where you choose to go out rather than studying which resulted in your failure… Always remember that life is a race, where everyone is trying to run faster than the other, trying to reach their goals faster than the other, trying to r
